Dear All,
First I would like to say I had a wonderful time last week getting to know each one of you. It was a journey which you know was made much easier and more enjoyable because of the people you shared it with you.
Emily,
Thank you for organizing the small details so that we had nothing to worry about but ride our bicycles. Your lively spirit provided us all with a lift and the end of the day or early in the morning.
Barbara,
Thank you very much for the wonderful food you prepared for us during our journey. We knew there was always something yummy waiting for us when we arrived for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Brian,
Thank you for finding me in Aviemore.(sp?) And for the great service you provided upon our departure and arrivial each day.
Jon,
Thank you for the road side mechanics/derailler cable sacrifice that helped keep us rolling the last day, helping us through out our journey in the support van. Also for volunteering to ride with us through some of the worst weather we encountered.
Mike Hopkins,
Thank you for all the work you did along the route keeping us together (except for day 4), motivated and happy through out the ride. Your leadership provided the base for the great teamwork during the week and made the hard times easier to get through. You keep us well feed and on schedule during the ride.
Stuart,
Thank you for helping out the first day and your support before during and after the ride.
Fellow riders:
Mike,
From a distance you look innocent enough but with lines like: "Who's got the softest hands?", "Get back!!!", and of course the "birthday suit" parade. You are a wolf in sheep's clothing and a great companion to have on an epic journey. Thank you.
Kevin,
I never knew what you would say next, but your wicked sense of humour kept me laughing throughout the day and most of the night.
Ed,
Thanks for pulling us across the country and photographing me at my most vunerable. Your blog was great, my family, friends and collegues really enjoyed the live coverage.
I did not choose you three as my teammates, but I now could not imagine having teammates any better. Now we are getting back to our lives that we left to go for a "little ride" for charity. We can reflect on the accomplishment and friendship we have made during this past week. We accomplished something that most people would say is madness (OK, maybe) with the help of a small but efficient and cheerful support staff. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
Anybody up for Race Against Time USA?? 20 days - 150 Miles a day???
Robert
I would like to add a comment for Robert...
Robert, all I can think about is your laughter, your unique phases -(pee pee or potty), our laughter (made by your phases), batteries, your stats (we are at 10,000ft now!), your extra 10 miles, and how relaxed you were when we found you after the extra 10 miles!
Ed
